It is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the September 28th 2023-2024 season kickoff lecture event featuring actress Sanaa Lathan. As a member of the Guild, Sanaa has made the decision to cancel all of her appearances including Steward Speakers in support of the writer’s strike. Sanaa has taken this stance across all pillars of her work. While we are deeply saddened by the cancellation, we also understand and respect Sanaa’s decision to stand with her fellow union members of the Writer's Guild of America.
At this late notice we are, regrettably, unable to secure a personality of comparable stature. Steward Speakers’ remains committed to bringing enlightened guest speakers who resonate in a meaningful way with our faithful sponsors and ticket holders and the Indianapolis community.
We understand this late change is disappointing. However, this season promises to be one of the most engaging speaker seasons in our more than 37 year history.
Tickets purchased for the September 28th event will be honored at the February or March 2024 events. Additionally, all season pass holders and sponsors will be notified of additional benefits to their packages.
